Confirmation

Sometimes Catholics think of Confirmation as a graduation marking the end of a time of faith formation. Not So! The truth is that Confirmation opens up new challenges to us on our journey of faith. We are challenged to become more like Christ; we are challenged to deepen our understanding of the Gospel message and to measure the issues of our world against that message.

The Church helps us. Guided by the Holy Spirit, the Church passes on the word of God as found in the Scripture and the Church's living tradition by confronting the issues of our time. Jesus has invited us to follow him, to walk in his footsteps, to complete his mission on earth. To do this, we must reach out to others as he did, with care, concern, healing and hope. This is a way of life for a confirmed Catholic.

The Confirmation teaching program is a two-year course of study which begins when a young person enters the 9th grade. Catholic teachings -- Commandments, Beatitudes, prayers, and the call to service -- are reviewed and stressed, so that our young people can appreciate the power and grace of an active spiritual life, and make good moral and spiritual decisions throughout their lives. Confirmation classes meet bi-weekly, on alternate Sundays, immediately following the 11 am mass. Current year schedules follow for both Level I and Level II classes. Older young people up to age 18 are also welcome to join our program.
