St. Stephen Parish Nursing Ministry

The mission of the Parish Nurse Health Ministry is to provide a Christ-centered compassionate means to identify the health needs of the whole interdenominational community. The goal of the ministry is to promote health and wholeness, and attend to the spiritual, emotional, and physical nature of each person within the context of their values, beliefs and practices.

The Parish Nurse Health Ministry is headed by a volunteer Parish Nurse who has completed the Parish Nurse Prep course approved by the International Parish Nurse Resource Center. The Parish Nurse is assisted by volunteer registered nurses, licensed practical nurses, social workers, dietitians, counselors, or anyone with a medical background. These volunteers provide counseling and support to individuals of all ages with medical problems or medical questions through telephone communication, home and hospital visits, blood pressure screenings and health education programs.
