OutreachCommunity Life - This ministry provides various organizations with items such as food, clothing, baby products, school supplies, and personal care items. Lent and Advent are the 2 main times of the year when drives are held for these items. Additionally, this ministry provides temporary help to those who need emergency assitance with monthly life giving services. Food Pantry - The parish food pantry is run by a group of dedicated volunteers. They organize non-perishable food items donated by the parishioners and distribute them to the needy. Good Neighbors - This ministry is designed to help parishioners and our community involved in special situations with transportation and meals. This ministry works closely with the parish nurse program to help meet the needs of the sick or disabled of our parish family. Hand 'N Hand - This is a faith-based mentoring program joining our hearts and hands together with the youth of the community. The program involves young adults and adults of St. Stephen willing to provide hope for a brighter future by giving of their time and talent to the youth in need within our area. It is a commitment to building relationships through various projects including tutoring, family type activities, and positive role modeling. This program answers God's call to serve others by fostering compassion and unconditional love. Ministry to the Sick - Ministry of visitation, which includes bringing the Eucharist to those who cannot attend church. Paint-Up/Fix-Up - This ministry offers small repairs and yard work to families of the community that are in need. It includes such things as painting, minor carpentry repairs, and all types of yard clean up. We also move families having financial difficulty that are seeking a change in housing. Parish Nurse - This ministry is headed by a volunteer parish nurse who has completed the Parish Nurse Prep course. The parish nurse is assisted by volunteer registered nurses, licensed practical nurses, social workers, dieticians, counselors, or anyone with a medical background. These volunteers provide counseling and support to idividuals of all ages with medical problems or medical questions through telephone communication, home and hospital visits, blood pressure screenings, and health educational programs. We also have trained RESPITE volunteers who can provide caregivers with short-term relief. Prison Ministry - Ministry volunteers visit various institutions in the Central Florida area addressing the spiritual needs of the incarcerated. In what way is St. Stephen Catholic Community active? Approximately 10 parishioners share their time and talent by providing an opportunity for Catholics to receive religious instruction, liturgy and the Sacraments.
