PARENTAL
RESPONSIBILITY
To
make P.R.E.P. a success for your child, religious education must come
first in the home. It is vital to your child's faith development that
Mass is attended each week. Continuous participation in religious education classes through and beyond the sacrament years will nourish their spiritual growth in our Catholic faith.
Families must be registered in the parish to enroll their children in religious education classes. Students should be enrolled in PREP classes beginning in the first grade. Pre-K and Kindergarten clsses are offered, but are considered optional.
Parents will be expected to review each lesson with their child and
return the appropriate worksheets that have been assigned.
For the sacraments of RECONCILIATION and EUCHARIST, parents are required
to attend all parent meetings held for that sacrament. Parent meetings
will be announced.
CLASSROOM
BEHAVIOR
Occasionally
there is a student who disrupts a class by his/her behavior. None
of our teachers should have to cope with disruptive behavior. It is
not fair to them nor to the rest of the class who are there to learn.
Such behavior will be addressed through the cooperative efforts of
the teacher, staff and parents. Together, hopefully, we will be able
to work out any problems that might arise.
SACRAMENTAL
INFORMATION
The process of receiving Reconciliation and First Eucharist involves a two-year program beginning in the first grade as First Year Eucharist. Both sacraments are celebrated in second grade - Second Year Eucharist. Confirmation is also a two year program which begins when a student enters ninth grade and culminates with the sacrament being celebrated at the end of year two. Copies of the student's Baptismal Certificate will be requested during these sacrament years.
FIRST
EUCHARIST: (Communion) Grade 2
RECONCILIATION: (Confession) Grade 2
CONFIRMATION: Level I
grade 9
Level II grade 10-12
ATTENDANCE
The
total number of classes has been reduced to accommodate family,
school, and holiday schedules. Regular attendance is therefore vital
and important. Teachers or staff will notify a family if a child
exceeds three absences.
MATERIALS
NEEDED
Grades
5 thru 8 are required to have a Bible. The Good News Bible is available
at a cost of $12.00.
Arrival
Procedures
Primary
(Pre-K - 4th grade) — Parents are required to park and then
walk their children to the classroom.
Intermediate
- (5th - 8th grade) — Student Drop-off is located off the back
parking lot at the metal canopy between EC I and the Conference Room
building. Parents are always welcome to walk their children to the
classroom.
Dismissal
Procedures
All
students, Pre-K through Grade 8, are to be picked up at the classroom!
A
parent or guardian (grandparent, carpool, neighbor...) will need to
sign each student out of the classroom at the end of class. Intermediate
students will no longer be released to the parking lot for dismissal.
Parents
are asked to wait in the courtyard until the bell has been rung for
dismissal. An open classroom door will indicate the teacher is ready
for the students to be signed out.
Please
notify the teacher (note, email) if you will need to pick up your
child early. Parents picking up early are asked to please check in
at the Resource Room before proceeding to the classrooms.
